Illness Policy

A minor illness is if one of the following conditions exists: the illness prevents the child from participating comfortably in the program activities or the illness results in a greater care need than the child care staff can provide without compromising the health and safety of the other children.

If a child becomes ill or shows symptoms of a contagious illness during the day, s/he will be removed from the room and isolated in the Director’s office, the parent will then be contacted to pick up the child within one hour. A cot will be provided for the child to lay on until he/she is picked up. An Illness Report will be sent home with the child indicating the requirements for return to the center. If the ill child is not picked up within the hour, the parent will incur a late fee of $2.00 per minute unless approved by the Director.
